
Daniel Temnik is an Israeli-born Canadian award-winning violinist and educator, widely recognized as one of Canada’s leading musical artists. Praised for his radiant tone, commanding technique, and musical depth, he maintains an active career as a soloist, chamber musician, and pedagogue across North America, Asia, and Europe.
He has distinguished himself in numerous national and international violin competitions, including the Canadian Music Competition, AFAF Golden Strings of America, the Paganini International Violin Competition, the Schoenfeld International Music Competition, the Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition, and the Henri Marteau International Competition. As a soloist, he has performed in major venues such as Carnegie Hall, Koerner Hall, Wigmore Hall, Teatro Carlo Felice, and the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center. His honors include the Catherine Royce Anderson Memorial Grant, John Montague Memorial Grant, Sika & Chris Dafeff Violin Bursary, and the Benjamin Steinberg Music Legacy Award. Most recently, he received the 2025 Royal Conservatory of Music Teacher of Distinction Award for his contributions to music education.
A frequent recitalist, he has appeared with ensembles including the Toronto Sinfonietta, York Symphony Orchestra, Kindred Spirits Orchestra, and the Royal Conservatory Orchestra. He has collaborated with artists such as Pinchas Zukerman, Yefim Bronfman, Valery Gergiev, Vadim Gluzman, Ilya Kaler, Miriam Fried, Andrés Cárdenas, and Donald Weilerstein, and has been a full-scholarship participant at the Keshet Eilon International Violin Mastercourse, the Banff Centre.
Deeply committed to education, Temnik teaches internationally, coaches the Canada Youth Chamber Orchestra, adjudicates competitions. He is artistic director of the chamber concert series at the Leah Posluns Theatre. Temnik studied at The Glenn Gould School of Music and currently performs on a 1770 Nicolò Gagliano.
