András Weber is a renowned cellist, dedicated educator, and artistic leader whose influence has enhanced the musical landscape across Europe, Mexico, and Canada. Born and educated in Hungary, he studied at the Béla Bartók Conservatory of Music and the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, later pursuing postgraduate studies at the Banff Centre for the Arts and Indiana University with the esteemed János Starker. These formative years shaped his artistry, discipline, and depth of expression.

Throughout his career, András has held principal positions with notable orchestras, including the National Theatre Orchestra of Hungary, Orquesta Mexicana de la Juventud, Orchestre des Jeunes du Québec, the National Chamber Orchestra, the Canadian Sinfonietta, and the Brantford Symphony Orchestra. For the past 18 years, he has served as the Principal Cellist of Sinfonia Toronto – “a world-class ensemble”, touring internationally, recording several CDs, and contributing to a Juno Award-winning project.

In addition to his performance career, András has been a respected member of the Royal Conservatory of Music faculty since 1987, inspiring countless young musicians with his thoughtful guidance and high standards. For 17 years, he has also led the strings program at King’s Christian Collegiate and adjudicated various festivals and competitions.

As a soloist, he has premiered works by Hungarian and Canadian composers. Through his chamber music collaborations and concert series, including Music Alive! in Concert, King’s Concert Series and Canadian Sinfonietta’s Wine and Cheese series, András continues to bring elegance, imagination, and warmth to his community’s musical life.
