
Joyce Yip is a phD candidate at the University of Toronto: Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning. She has completed her HBSc (Human Biology and Psychology) at the University of Toronto and MA (Community Music) at Wilfrid Laurier University. She has completed advanced studies in violin at the Royal Conservatory of Music, and is also completing her ARCT in Piano Pedagogy under the tutelage of Christine Turgeon.
As a teacher-researcher, she has worked with patients at the Hospital for Sick Kids, Mount Sinai, and community strings orchestras in the Greater Toronto Area to better understand the relationship between music and health. She is an active music educator with proficiency in violin and piano, and has prepared students to perform recitals, competitions, and examinations. She was the past journal editor of Music Therapy Today, and has published in Activities, Adaptation & Aging, Music Therapy Perspectives, Barcelona Publishers, Oxford Handbook, Springer Book, and the Canadian Music Education Journal.
