A laureate of the 2013 Virginia Waring International Piano Competition, Canadian pianist Dr. Benjamin Smith currently resides in Toronto, working as a lecturer and coach for the Glenn Gould School (GGS) and the Taylor Young Artist Academy of the Royal Conservatory.  He has performed across Canada and the United States, including appearances as soloist in Carnegie and Alice Tully halls, and has partnered in recital with principal players of the Met, Boston, Los Angeles, Houston, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Montreal, Toronto, and Aarhus symphony orchestras.  He has performed live on Toronto’s Classical 96.3, and has been heard in recording nationwide on CBC Radio 2.  His principal teachers have included James Anagnoson and Julian Martin, and he holds a doctorate from Stony Brook University, along with degrees from Juilliard, GGS, and the University of Toronto.
